and the power of the main line at daly city station is back on. the issue is at the san francisco yard where the trains are being kept, dublin trains are still trapped in the yard because of the loss of power. dublin to san francisco from east to west the trains can and will be able to get back to dublin and riders can travel east on the yellow or green lines. bart will send trains from dublin to pick up the extra passengers to get them to dublin station a way to get through bart but hopefully the power will be back on and you can get the trains off and rolling. >> thank you, leyla gulen. to add insult to injury for the commute if you are driving you have to scrape off the ice again a frozen commute for all of the neighbors but for san francisco with sub-freezing temperatures until 9:00. then no ice and you can take the protection off the plants and let the pets go out for an extend time. i am sure they are stir crazy. highs today are milder by two to four degrees and upper 40's along the coast and mid-50's there and low-to-mid 50's an the bay and inland and extended warming trend

police are investigating the city's 84th homicide of the year. police say an oakland man in his 20's was shot and killed near intersection 580 before 10:00 last night. according to the investigators the victim was in front of a home and he was hit in the hold. he died at seen. our media party reports that the shooter drove away in a green car. there have been no arrests. >> 2-year-old boy who nearly drowned in a pond could make a full recovery after being underwater for ten minutes. the toddler would have died if not for the courageous responsibility firefighters. we hockey with the boy's rescuers. >> we rescued a child and it hit home and made we feel very grateful for my friends and family. >> saturday afternoon, the fire department paramedic jumped into this creek looking for a two-year old boy who fell in. she was up to her neck in nasty pond scum and time was running out because the child had been underwater for ten minutes. >> i realized he was sucked into the area under the road and i could barely see the white t-shirt and was able to grab him and lift him up to ward. >> ward

planned in the bay area, san francisco mayor lee. post a memorial in the city hall rotunda at 8:00 a.m. and in oakland a celebration is planned for noon at the plaza tomorrow. >> san francisco firefighters have a tough time this morning with the fire burning out a recycling plant that break out last night across highway 101 from candlestick park. matt is on the scene. matt? >> the smoke is still a major issue and it billowed out of the recology warehouse in san francisco. the fire has been burning for several hours first reported 598:30. the warehouse contains basic building material where contractors come to dump items like sheet rock, yard debris and lumber. san francisco fire department says the bulk of the fire is knocked out but a pile 100 yards and 8' tall continues to burn. it is generating so much smoke it has been difficult to get the crews in there. firefighters put on the oxygen tank and rotate shifts every 20 minutes. >> normally the facilities when we do not have a fire have large back hoes and front loaders that operate and move the trash around but because of the smoke c

francisco. temperatures are already plummeting around the bay. san francisco is the only city safe from below freezing temperatures tonight. in the east bay temperatures had already dropped well below 40 degrees earlier this evening. they will go even lower as the night continues. we have team coverage on the cold snap. we begin with spencer christian with a look at how low the temperatures are going to drop overnight. spencer? >> all right. it is possible we will see temperatures certainly down near the 20-degree mark and possibly below 20 in a couple spots. the temperatures are dropping rapidly, and this is the area covered by our freeze warning for the next two nights. virtually the entire bay area except the city of san francisco. sub freezing temperatures and temperatures down into the 20s. we will see the possibility of exposed pipes bursting in this kind of exposure and this kind of cold. as an increased risk of hypothermia. looking toward the bay bridge our prediction for the next two to three mannings -- mornings we will have two mornings in the deep freeze with low 20s the nex

degrees in san francisco and chilly in oakland and redwood city. 44 degrees in san jose and 50 along the coast at half moon bay. what we will have is a cold snap visiting us this week and that is going to start tonight so dust off the electric blankets we have a cold snap that will bring if a possibility of precipitation for parts of the central coast but it passes out and we are going to be experiencing and wind and a temperature drop. more on that in the seven-day forecast but we do have a couple of problems in the traffic department. not quite sure if this due to fog but if you are headed along the altamont pass westbound 580 at grant line, we have a stall there and that is slowing things down as you make the push in the westbound direction. when you reach vasco you have top speeds to the dublin interchange. drive time traffic shows 80 westbound from albany to the maze is four minutes. 880 southbound from fremont to san jose is 15 minutes. 280 northbound from 101 to cupertino is 10 minutes. outside it is going to be the san mateo bridge making the push in the westbound direc

truck stolen near mexico city is drawing international concern. it housed this medical device, used in the treatment of cancer patients. in it, cobalt 60 teletherapy, a radioactive material that can be dangerous if it's removed or if the shielding of the device is damaged. >> if you have a large quantity, an entire truck of this cobalt 60, could you really do some environmental harm? and that question, i think is open at this point. >> reporter: mexican officials immediately contacted the international atomic energy agency. u.s. officials are monitoring closely. the truck was stolen at a gas station just 35 miles outside of mexico city. it is unclear who stole the material. and if they know what they have. but even though the theft occurred hundreds of miles from the u.s. border, there's a reason why the incident is drawing such intense scrutiny. u.s. officials have long been concerned that stolen radioactive material could be used to make a so-called dirty bomb. such a device could not cause a nuclear explosion. but the cobalt, combined with a conventional explosive, could release
